CI International Conducts World Café at Excellence in Government Conference

Littleton, CO – August 2006 -
CI International presented it’s Leading Today and Tomorrow workshop in a World Café format at this year’s Excellence in Government’s (EIG) conference. The EIG conference offers federal employees two days of management insight, federal best practices and high-level speakers. Over 1,000 attendees from 36 federal departments and agencies participated; ninety-four percent of whom ranked GS-12 and above.

CI’s session, one of six offered, focused on managing a diverse workforce and the generational differences becoming increasingly more prevalent as the Millennials, born 1978 to 1999, enter the workforce.

“Workplace demographics are changing rapidly, from the retirement of aging workers to an influx of young talent,” noted Mark Metoyer, senior CI facilitator of the Café. “There is a pressing need for leaders and organizations to understand and act decisively in the face of these significant workforce changes.” Metoyer passionately communicated to the group that the motivation and incentives that worked in the past need to change to be as effective with the new breed of workers. Through the World Café format, participants explored these trends and discussed factors that will affect employees and the choices they make about where they will work. They also examined the role organizations play in creating positive workplace environments, and shared ideas to help better understand and prepare for the changing workforce.
