CI International has a unique ability to customize an approach to strategic planning based on your needs and the culture of your organization. We can provide the entire range of planning services to you or integrate one element into your existing planning process.

Our first objective is to help the client clearly understand their need for a planning effort, why a planning initiative is being undertaken, what they expect to get from this investment and how results from it will be used. CI also assesses your organization’s culture and consults with sponsors of the planning effort on the best way to design a process that will have the greatest impact. The final phase of a CI design is engagement of top leadership to ensure that the planning initiative meets the unique combination of political and programmatic goals that characterize Federal organizations.

Our strategic planning capabilities are robust, addressing the elements of futuring, strategic and tactical planning. Futures planning is principally centered on defining the vision and ideal characteristics or state of the organization within the context of external forces or trends. It is a process that is marked by innovative thought and an external focus.

We then assist you in defining the ideal characteristics and design of your organization. Goals and objectives are extracted from this by comparing it to how the organization is performing in its current state. This process is completed by determining how to close the gap between the current state and the ideal design, with development of appropriate strategies, programs and policies.

Tactical planning completes the cycle by giving a short term, usually annual, focus to activities and the requisite resources to accomplish the activities. It is at this point that the strategic and tactical planning work can be used to construct critical sub-elements of the plan, including human capital and technology plans.
